International Women’s Day(IWD) is a worldwide day celebrating the social, economic, political and cultural achievements of women. This day is also a call to action to accelerate gender equality. Numerous events are held around the world to celebrate women’s achievements or to demonstrate women’s equality.
Celebrated annually on March 8, International Women’s Day is one of the most important days of the year to celebrate women’s achievements, raise awareness of women’s equality, call for positive change in favour of women, lobby for gender equality, or even fund raises. Each and everyone can help advance gender equality.
In 2023, the theme of International Women’s Day is ‘Cracking the Code: Innovation for a gender equal future.” This theme is based on the United Nations 67th Commission on the Status of Women’s priority theme ‘Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls.”
So, in honour of International Women’s Day #EmbraceEquity, we decided to celebrate a special way this year, gathering some incredible women from the iGaming industry, sharing their important opinion regarding gender equality and women empowerment.

What progress/improvements have you seen on gender equality in your life and work?
“In my work life, I have seen more women being hired and promoted into leadership positions, which is encouraging. However, we are all still aware of pay gaps between genders. But on the other side a lot of support when it comes to our biological roles and needs – support is given to pregnant ladies, in Spain we have a new law offering menstrual leave – things are changing, and it is important to be cautious and not to get extremes now. We must not forget the fact that all the progress we are seeing is on our side of the planet if I may say so. There are still countries where women are not allowed to have health care, education, or some other elementary needs. We need to recognize that there is still a lot of work to be done to achieve gender equality for everyone.”

In your opinion, do you think we need more women in leadership? If so, why?
“And my answer to this question is – Absolutely! Dare I even say “more is more” in this case. We have so many aspiring women who need someone to look up to as I said previously. Someone they can relate to; they need someone who understands their day to day struggles and can actually lead by example. There are number of successful companies which have strong and capable women behind them, and I’d love to see that number grow. And I believe with these little step that we’re making every day, we can Embrace Equity in all aspect of our lives and build a better future.”

What are the most important challenges you have overcome in your role?
“It is hard to rely to specific challenges which I have to overcome to fulfill my role. It’s mainly because I look at challenges as an opportunity to learn something and to develop myself. On the other hand I think that there are too many reasons that create different challenges and for me these are poor communication and misunderstandings. Having said that I think that’s very important for each individual to constantly work on personal communication skills and try to improve them as much as possible as I think it might prevent many further challenges and problems.”

As a woman, what were the most important challenges you have had to overcome to fulfill your role?
“Women do not have just one roll, and I believe that this is what difeferences us from man. We are mothers we are professional, we are housewives, and there’s also an increasing high pressure above all for the way we look as well. for me ,having two kids and a job with many responsibilities, has been incrisingly stressful. If you want to be good to your kids, if you want to be good to your family, if you want to be good to your job, then you need to find a way to balance everything. The truth is that 99% of the time this is not possible and this is what we all need to remember that at the end of the day we’re just human beings we get tired, we make mistakes, we snap. There will be days that will be bad, there will be days that you will feel exhausted but there will be also days that you will be able to enjoy your kids, your family, your job, and last but never least yourself.”
Let’s celebrate all the progress women have done towards equality, not only today but every day.
